Tom
Tom founded Nine 13, Inc/Nine13sports, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works with youth organizations to provide health and wellness programming using cycling as a tool. additionally Tom has previously spent many hours working with urban youth as a cycling instructor, volunteered hundreds of hours between 2004 and 2010 assisting at the Major Taylor Velodrome coaching, cleaning and officiating. Tom has previously been a board member for the Major Taylor Advisory Committee, an athlete liaison while attending Marian College and assists personally with many of the same organizations Nine13sports partners with.
Tom is passionate about promoting the importance of red light awareness and the impact not paying attention while driving can make after his life was changed forever in 2010 and he was seriously injured in a commercial vehicle accident that also killed his best friend due to a driver carelessly running a red light. He’s worked with the National Coalition for Safer Roads to provide his testimonial for video as well as writing for the organization.
