Guest Blogging and Fundraising

March 20, 2014 By Tom

I’m sitting here anxiously awaiting a guest blog I wrote to get posted on Bloomerang.co today.  What this really means is that I’m drinking coffee and clicking over to the tab every few minutes and hitting refresh.  It’s dorky, I’m sure I’ll get tagged in a tweet and notified when it goes live but I’m so excited to see my first major corporate guest blog go live.  I feel like I’m waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve!

I’ve got three meetings this morning and basketball this afternoon with my class at Butler and a quick run as the only other things distracting me from basketball today.  I’m riding high from a meeting I had yesterday with a foundation I’ve been chasing for 2 years.  After meeting with them, we’re targeting a grant award for Q2; but more importantly this foundation is a major player in youth fitness and health and the visibility of their relationship will be a cornerstone of our growth in the second half of 2014.

The other awesome part of that meeting yesterday was the feedback I got from the grants director of the foundation.  He was very complimentary of the grants I’ve previously submitted that were not awarded; and grant writing is an area that I’ve always felt relatively weak with since I didn’t have formal training.  He was pretty honest that it was just a matter of timing and proving ourselves before they felt they could financially support the idea and all of the recent happenings had impressed them tremendously.

I’ll toss up that blog link whenever it goes live as a separate post for those of you not on Facebook or Twitter.

Keep rocking and rolling, enjoy this first day of Spring!
