Identity

November 20, 2011 By Lauren and Tom
Reading blogs is a way for me to pass time when I’m bored, it’s about the only thing I use my IPad for and it’s a way for me to connect with other women around the country. These are women that I will probably never meet in “real life” but who can inspire me, push me to think past my current thinking and give me someone to relate to in certain life experiences.

I mean I could only laugh and smile when I read that others signed up for the Rock n Roll Chicago Half Marathon last Friday to save $20….the race is on July 22, 2012….9 months away. I haven’t even discussed my coming for that weekend with my in-laws, hope they don’t mind! But it’s nice to know there are other crazies out there who are just like me.

I recently found a new blog that I’ve enjoyed reading and her topic of the day was the best beauty secret, well of course I want to know this one! Please give me anything, that doesn’t involve make-up to give me a more natural glow as we approach the winter months and my ridiculously white Irish skin only gets whiter. I think I can honestly blind people at times with my paleness, it’s a treat, let me tell ya.

Look at that paleness…while I’m at the beach.
Her secret…tap into your true identity.
Huh? Um, I don’t think I can buy that one at Target. Well, crap now I have to think about this one. What is my true identity?
A wife, runner, daughter, friend, dog mommy, adventure seeker, tragic event survivor, victim…
I’m definitely a wife…the world knows that day.
I’m definitely a runner. My words, actions, mind and legs make me a runner.
I’m a daughter, daughter in-law and friend.
My dogs do get food, water and love daily so I guess that makes me a dog mom, maybe even a good one.
Lord, knows I’m always looking for some other adventure to keep me active.
Tragic event survivor or victim…I’m still working on that one but most days I’ll say survivor.

So, how the heck does knowing my true identity bring out my beauty? I definitely don’t have the exact answer but I have ideas.
It could have something to do with knowing who I am, what I stand for and what I want out of life. It could be knowing that no one is happy 100% of the time but you have to choose to be happy despite your circumstances. It could just be as simple in making the choices in life that will make you the person you want to be. Maybe, by knowing these facts about yourself you become more content and your inner beauty starts to shine.

Every day you wake up you get to choose.

Knowing my true identity, what I believe in and what I want to do with my life brings out the best in me and my true beauty. I want to be a supportive wife; I want to be a runner and all that entails in the meaning of life (for another blog), a good friend and a survivor.

What is your true identity? It will make you ponder…
