Island in the Sun

“Island in the Sun”
On an island in the sun
We’ll be playing and having fun
And it makes me feel so fine
I can’t control my brain

We’ll run away together
We’ll spend some time forever
We’ll never feel bad anymore

I never expected the feedback and support regarding Wednesday’s blog and my day 60 goal.  After dealing with the repair guy for our air conditioner being here for 6 hours; I was worried my window of ride time was quickly closing, but it worked out perfectly and I got out during the middle of the day enjoying 90 degree temperatures and my own “Island in the Sun”.

There isn’t a whole lot to be said, I got my 3 hours in, 83 kilometers (51.5 miles for those of you who can’t readily convert), and a bit of a sunburn.  Not a speed record by any means, but it was a milestone for me; something I’ve dreamed of doing again for the past 14 months;  “Living the dream…”.

To make it even more self-fulfilling, I did it “man style”; I had a bagel and a few cups of coffee for breakfast and took three bottles of water with me for the ride and a 5 dollar bill, and promised myself a nice ice cold beer in the shower when I returned if I was able to do the ride without stopping at a gas station for caloric intake using my $5.  Hit that goal as well, though the last 40 minutes with a stiff headwind tore me to shreds!

My day in pictures…
The best view in the world, a perfectly straight country road
Guess I’ll follow these arrows on the road and see where they take me…
Ignore the finger, it’s hard to do this on an iPhone while stretching
Life doesn’t get much better than this…even when getting cooked by that sun!
50 km in, waiting for a light to turn green…
Hopped on the Monon Trail to help shield the wind coming in, and for the scenery in Carmel!
Always a favorite shot with the wheel shadow in it
Almost home, on Bar Row in Broadripple, wondering where my $5 could get a big beer… (but I didn’t!)
Coming into the IMA, 5 minutes from the house and how I finish almost every single ride (and another guy on a bike acros the street!)
The trusty Tiemeyer post-ride, rocking out the same JD stickers that the Wrangler has for the same reasons
That’s all folks!
Cheers
