“It’s like someone’s holding on to the tail of the sun”

January 21, 2014 By Tom

This is the summer that’ll never come
It’s like someone’s holding on to the tail of the sun
I wanna waste time and walk the line
From any beat routine to where I’m feeling alright
I can’t holdout, I don’t care about offending
The world’s descending…

-Stroke 9, “Tail of the Sun”

seriously sun, I’m looking for you

Another few inches of snow on the ground, another polar vortex, another log on the fire.  I’m over it.

“You can’t control the weather, so you might as well embrace it”….that got me through the last week but seriously, I’m over this.

This is the kind of cold that cuts through my back, makes my bones and my muscles ache.  It’s a grin and smile type of situation usually and for the most part I’m really good at gutting through stuff, but seriously, I’m over this.

The back being sore is an added reminder of loyalty; loyalty some value a whole lot more than others, a previous life, trying to remember the times that my back didn’t hurt – was there a time? I can barely remember.

Anyways, this wasn’t really the direction of the initial post for the 9 Project when I sat down to write it, but the always wise Partner-in-Crime penned a post last night over at 418stories.com that got my mind turning and coupled with the chill in the air–made me realize how much I’m missing some Florida or California sun at this moment in time.

It’ll pass, but I’m craving some sun and warmth so I can run and ride with some of the ferociousness needed to clear the mind.

Spring is just around the corner, right?

Now excuse me, I need to go throw another log on the fire and get Zee and Bailey to cuddle and keep me warm by using them as overstuffed blankets that snore.

Stay cool, kids (by staying warm),
