“Keep Calm and Carry On”

April 19, 2013 By Tom

Lauren and I were both absolutely crushed as the news came out of Boston this week.

In the midst of the tragedy though, a news story came out: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/16/kelli-johnston-robert-watling-_n_3092742.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003

This couple got married after running the marathon only hours after the bombs went off.  This article hit close to home for us at the Hanley house for many reasons, and we give this couple well wishes and cheers for many years ahead.  Tragic and evil things happen to good people and the old motto of “keep calm and carry on” is a method to get through the madness of the world.

This all seems fitting, a year ago today we mediated with John Mavris and the Mavris Arts & Events Center and realized just how under-insured they were and how we weren’t going to find easy resolution on the business side of this.  Thinking and looking at where we’ve come from in the last year though as I was getting a cup of coffee this morning in the kitchen really hit home on how much we’ve healed.  We’ve got a home full of love, three crazy mutts and great friends.

With the weather slowly breaking we’ve had a chance to start having some great evenings on the deck with friends over to join us and break in the new deck properly.  We’re absolutely loving the ability to entertain in our own home.

Getting ready to begin landscaping the house, got the wood for next winter stacked and ready with our favorite way to heat the house.

Now, it’s Little 500 time…

Cheers,
