Writing is Hard, Spring is Here and the Indy 500 is Near

May 8, 2013 By Tom

As I alluded to last week, I’ve been sitting down and penning my thoughts on the very rough early parts of the book Lauren and I have discussed doing–“So Much Life in Such Little Time”.  With everything else going on in life I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I want to do, but it’s a process and an art unto itself that I am learning.  I’ve started from scratch a dozen times and just now am finding a decent flow and style.  The biggest thing I’m wrestling with is transitioning from “business writing” like I have to do all day for work to “fun writing” which is the tone I want to undertake with the book.  As I get more content with the early stuff and Lauren looks it over and begins to do the same, we’ll post some segments on here to share the style and direction it is going.

I sit here today in between meetings, at my favorite place, Brugge in Broadripple sitting outside and enjoying the weather.  Spring finally feels like it has come and that has actually increased the craziness of work in a way I never imagined.  Tomorrow we’re at a corporate event with our programs, Saturday we’re at a big community event in downtown Indianapolis, next weekend we are out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of Radio Disney’s Kids Zone.  Things are moving at a blistering pace and while I love the way business is flowing, can’t wait till we hit a point where we can bring on additional staff for some of these events and I don’t have as much weekend programming.

The other thing of May is that it means the Indy 500 is coming up.  My favorite way to know Spring is finally here is to hear the cars running from my home office window and the way the city comes even more alive for these few weeks.  Lauren scored some Pit Passes for the lead-in events and you can bet we’ll be there taking in the sights, sounds and atmosphere of one of the greatest weekends of the year.

Until next time…

Cheers,
